EZ-Link - A Prepaid Payment Card System For Public Transport
EZ-Link is a contactless prepaid payment card system in Singapore used on public transport bus and rail lines. The reloadable EZ-Link card can be used on SMRT, SBS Transit, Tower Transit Singapore, Go-Ahead Singapore and Sentosa Express bus services as well as MRT and LRT trains operated by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore.
The EZ-Link card can be topped up with cash at general ticketing machines at train stations and selected bus interchanges, or via local debit cards, NETS and Visa/Mastercard. A mobile app for EZ-Link cards and EZ-Charms is also available which allows you to make in-app top-ups as well as add your EZ-Link Wallet virtual Mastercard for online shopping and subscription services. You can also register to have your ERP and carpark payments charged directly to your EZ-Link Wallet for free and never worry about missing out on rewards!
The app makes navigation of the controller's menus much easier by providing easy-to-read explanations for the various prompts and parameters, especially if you have trouble understanding the four-character, seven-segment display. It can also be helpful if you need to help someone else with using the controller as it spells out what the various buttons or screens mean in English rather than their cryptic codes.
The EZ-Link is very convenient to use, as you just have to tap it on the panel when entering or exiting the MRT platforms and buses. It is even more useful for travellers as the fare is pre-loaded and you won't have to ask for exact change from the driver as they can simply deduct it from the card balance. It can also be used for parking, retail shops, private transport, government services and community services at more than 30,000 acceptance points throughout the island.
